Permissible Uses for IPC Media-Based Training, Technical Reference and Image Resources
Below are the permissible ways for corporate, educational or independent* training providers to use IPC media resources: video / DVD files, computer and web-based training and testing programs, online video resources, multi-video courses, graphic and photographic “clip-art” images, and printed reference materials (posters, training and reference guides).
A.) Video / DVD
IPC Video / DVD programs and DVD sets are licensed for unlimited use within one physical location or site only. DVDs may not be converted for digital transmission over a network, intranet or internet for use at that site, or any additional locations. Contact the IPC Training Dept. for specific rates on multiple copies, and for multi-site or global access rights. (Also see the “Online Video Training (OVT) Resources” section below as the proper / licensed format for network, intranet or internet distribution or delivery to multiple locations.)
IPC Video/DVDs are not licensed for editing or incorporation into training products or programs intended for resale (for profit). IPC Video/DVDs may be edited to remove content conflicting with company-specific practices; and edited for inclusion into other in-house training presentations – as long as the resulting program is not resold for profit or used in non-licensed facilities.
Users may make a single disc copy for regular use, and save the original disc as a copy master to protect against damage or loss. Or, return damaged DVDs to IPC for free replacement.
IPC training videos – either excerpts or in their entirety – may not be posted upon other websites such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, etc., without the expressed permission of IPC Training.
Online Video Training (OVT) Resources
B.) OTL - Online / Computer-Based Training and Testing -- running on the IPC web server…
The Online Training Library (OTL) available from the IPC website – comes in both Site and Global Licenses. Users are granted a one-year license for unlimited use based on the following definitions.
OTL Site License – IPC Server
Allows for unlimited, simultaneous usage on every computer throughout one contiguous location only. Also includes all users affiliated with that location, but training remotely via networks or the internet. Access to these files is not permitted by persons unaffiliated with licensed location.
OTL Global License – IPC Server
Allows for unlimited, simultaneous usage on every computer throughout all facilities and locations worldwide via networks or the internet. Access to these files not permitted for persons unaffiliated with licensed organization - or in organizations not sharing the same corporate name.
OVT resources (video files, testing programs or certificates) that are part of the IPC Online Training Library may not be copied or distributed to any other websites or entities – commercial or private.
Company ID and password used for access to the IPC website is for the licensed facility (or facilities) only.
C.) OVT - Online / Computer-Based Training and Testing -- running on YOUR server…
IPC Online Video Training tools (with “OVT” part # prefix) are available in either Site (single facility) or Global (multiple location) Licenses for use on your own computer-based network, intranet or LMS (Learning Mgmt. System). The terms and restrictions for these video training resources include any digital movie files, as well as all related training and testing materials (guides, certificates, automated testing programs, etc.) that come with the video training.
Nonprofit educational institutions may use IPC OVT products to create their own online learning programs for their registered students only. Registered students reside in geographical proximity to their school, and are taking IPC training programs online as part of that school’s curriculum of programs.
OVT resources may not be incorporated into web-based / distance learning programs, such as online universities or other internet-centered (for-profit) enterprises. Online Video Training resources may not be edited or incorporated into training products or programs intended for resale (for-profit). Online Video Training programs that are for use on your own server may be edited to remove content conflicting with company-specific practices; and edited for inclusion into other in-house training presentations – as long as the resulting program is not resold for profit or used in non-licensed facilities.
D.) EDGE – Online / IPC Learning Management System
The EDGE LMS provides online training for single student / single use via the IPC website. Trainers can purchase vouchers for individual students and manage their training and testing records online. Vouchers are per student and are not licensed for classroom presentation. Using EDGE courses for classroom display is in violation of the terms and conditions of usage.
E.) Photographic and Graphic Illustrations (Images)
Licensed users may incorporate IPC images and/or graphics (each hereinafter referred to as “images”) into products intended for use within their own company at any company location worldwide, provided that these images are accompanied by the following IPC copyright attribution:
Copyright IPC International, Inc.
These images are Copyrighted by IPC International, Inc. and are used with IPC’s permission. Images may not be altered or further reproduced without the prior written consent of IPC. Users may electronically “fit to size” images or change format (.jpg, .bpg, .bmp, etc.) to suit their needs, but may not otherwise alter IPC images. Altering an image in any fashion other than “fit to size” or to change file format is a violation of the IPC license and constitutes copyright infringement.
Images may not be used by any other persons, companies or organizations other than the original purchaser. Images used in web-based training programs must be made secure within that organization’s servers, and cannot be available for copying to anyone outside the original purchasing organization.
The license does not permit use of images for adaptation or incorporation into commercial (for-profit) training products or services.
F.) Training and Reference Guides (DRMs) / Posters
Printed IPC Training and Reference Guides or Posters may not be photocopied, scanned or otherwise digitized for electronic reproduction.
*Independent Training Providers
Training providers working for themselves or other training organizations may purchase and use any of the IPC media as listed above; to provide training services and programs between multiple customer facilities and locations. These providers must honor all other licensing restrictions, and must not leave behind or distribute free copies of any IPC training media resource at any location. IPC media must be used in their entirety, and credit must be given IPC for all media used in the training programs.
Independent training providers using IPC media for programs at their own training facilities must purchase the appropriate license permission for each of their corporate / educational locations that use IPC training media.
